IN MEMORY OF NORMA
Contribution by Marg Lyons

MY SYMPHONY

To live content with small means:
To seek elegance rather than luxury,
and refinement rather than fashion.

To study hard, think quietly,
talk gently, act frankly;

To listen to stars and birds,
to babes and sages, with open heart;

To bear all cheerfully, do all bravely,
await occasions, hurry never;

In a word, to let the spiritual,
unbidden and unconscious,
grow up through the common;

This is my symphony.

William Henry Channing

PRAYER for LONDON

The Church of England has produced a prayer,
written in the wake of the disturbances in our cities.

Prayer for Peace in our Communities

Gracious God,
We pray for peace in our communities this day.
We commit to you all who work for peace and an end to tensions,
And those who work to uphold law and justice.
We pray for an end to fear,
For comfort and support to those who suffer.
For calm in our streets and cities,
That people may go about their lives in safety and peace.
In your mercy, hear our prayers,
now and always.
Amen
